There’s been a boom of new gaming studios recently, and some are seemingly jumping on the bandwagon of a buzzword-enhanced quick buck. This recent flooding of new studios also means that top-quality artists can be trapped in dead-end jobs, and therefore more difficult to recruit. The traditionally animated film tells the story of a group of jaded developers who reach breaking point in their job, and their brains go on a violent, yet comedic, rampage in an effort to be free from tyranny. In collaboration with Bad Brain, the film was written, directed, and produced at SEED in the guise of an adult animated series you’d expect to watch on Adult Swim or some dark, hidden corner of Netflix. Read more HERE

As part of their in-house experimentation, this short film, JUMP was created as research into how they can merge 3D and 2D animation to achieve new animation styles. The story is about Leaf, a young person learning to use their power to jump into new universes. Each jump gave Tonic the opportunity to explore new stylistic possibilities. They did it again. Roof Studio once again showcases their ability to tell a captivating story that tugs at your emotions through stunning visuals loaded with detail and intrigue. ‛4-H’ is a compelling 3D-animated story that traces the path of four children involved with 4-H.  Creating ‘4-H’ demanded a harmonious blend of careful planning, captivating storytelling, and detailed design. Roof crafted a storyboard filled with lively scenes, bound together by seamless transitions and dynamic camera movements. The narrative required intense attention to detail in their renders, particularly with vegetation, to immerse the audience fully in the children’s world. Each environment, from the blooming garden to the leafy treehouse, played a crucial storytelling role. Character development was also key, as they aimed to convey the children’s evolving friendship, shared experiences, and their proud community contributions, capturing the essence of their journey.Despite the technical challenges of crafting detailed environments and characters, the Roof teams’ creativity thrived under these demands. MASTERS & SAVANT – Sauza Tequila “Get Busy Living” / CG Stop-motion

Meet “Don Esqueleto,” the new CG brand ambassador for Sauza cocktails. Don Esqueleto is entirely CG, created in a stop-motion style, with photo-real textures that mimic a stop-motion miniature. He was developed from scratch in close collaboration with Highdive creatives in the US and UK. Their CG approach meant that the creatives could craft Don Esqueleto’s performances in a way that would not have been possible using actual stop-motion, at least not without resorting to expensive reshoots, resulting in a wickedly relatable character. Working closely alongside Adam & EveNYC, Jelly’s Estudio Pum were commissioned together with Jelly’s in-house team KITCHEN to develop a new visual world for the US probiotic and prebiotic drinks brand KeVita. ‘For All Gutkind’ is an ode to each and every kind of gut there is. The campaign was developed to reposition the Pepsico-owned brand in the world of gut-led health drinks, embracing illustration and animation to build an organic, natural, abstract – and fun – celebratory world to stand out from the rest. Estudio Pum’s visual world consisted of 6 key visuals in varying formats to span both brand and the portfolio of products. Yelp’s first campaign since 2016 celebrates restaurants’ ability to ‘Turn the Tables’ in this fun 60-second film. It features three restaurateurs who managed to turn the unpleasantness of the pandemic into positive, and sometimes selfless, situations – by giving food out to local people and offering opportunities to chefs who were struggling to get by. Seed jumped in once they had chosen to lead with 3 of the most inspiring stories, featuring Ketsuda, Glen, and Ann. Besides the personalities of these people, Seed had rich visual pickings from each of their restaurants. They created a miniature-style environment, with larger than life characters, and a device based on the ‘Turn the Tables’ theme where empty cafes turned into thriving spaces. Some of Laundry’s favorite projects involve bringing a client’s brand, or in this case, their label to life. They were delighted to do just that for Kona Brewing Company with their friends at Duncan Channon. Eschewing the traditional tabletop product shoot, ECD Jayson Whitmore proposed celebrating Kona’s gorgeous packaging through a series of 5 social stories brought to life in gorgeous hand-drawn cel animation and photo-real 3D. For Mental Health Awareness Week Niceshit animates a colourful cast of emotive characters inspired by real-life stories of NHS frontline workers and their experiences of working during the pandemic. Supported by The Laura Hyde Foundation, who ensure that medical and emergency services personnel have access to the best mental health support available, ‘The Feelings’ brings to life a cast of charming characters – including ‘Power Less’, ‘Rising Dread’, and ‘Red Rage’ – to communicate common thoughts and feelings of front line healthcare workers. ALEN: Community of Clean

A household name in Mexico, ALEN’s cleaning products needed to make a big splash for a marketing launch in the U.S.A. They needed a hand-made organic look that suited their family-friendly natural products. The production design was modular, so Global Mechanic could roll out painterly elements from the spots across the web and broadcast media with a great deal of flexibility for this large campaign. 


FILM

Carbon: the Unauthorized Biography 

This is the ultimate biography of Carbon, the most talked about but least understood element on earth. Their biggest documentary to date, this Australian/Canadian feature film co-production approached them to animate science in an arty way. They made over 40 minutes of animated content, from painted elements composited with interviewees like Neil deGrasse Tyson to exploding supernovas, and right down to shimmering, glowing nuclei. Massive!

After our Cartoon Network Hotel installation project went so well with them last year, Adult Swim approached GM on this much-awaited Harvey Birdmansequel. One of their longstanding directors Rich Ferguson-Hull heads up the team on this continuing cult classic.

Jelly has been very busy this Fall, to include JELLY-represented director, Em Cooper oil paint animation piece that communicates the idea of dedication, hard work and the training process that athletes go through in the run up to their pivotal sporting achievements. In a film made with Wieden+Kennedy, Portland for their client Hayward Field, which is an iconic Track & Field training ground based in Oregon, USA. Hayward has seen countless record-breakingathletes in training, such as Sha’Carrie Richardson, Nick Symmonds and Otis Davis. Using Em’s signature, emotionally charged style of oil painting and rotoscoped animation, clips from famous Track & Field sporting moments combined with rotoscoped animation are used to paint the maniacal, intense process of training that leads up to the glory of winning. The mood and tone shift from a darker, more obscured animated world, which represents the hard work and training, to a clearer, more detailed live action one, which shows the glory of winning. “it’s what you put in, that leads to the glory you get out”. Jelly’s psychedelic design maestros Estudio Pum were just the right pick to create suitably mind-blowing visuals for Spotify’s new interactive feature of their Anchor product,. They made a slick mix with Jelly’s KITCHEN crew directed and animated the trip into the mind of the Podcast creator. The aim of the story was to tell the viewer how Podcasting has been a one-way conversation traditionally – until now.

It tells the story of four different homeowners who gain confidence from encouraging words doled out by their Strongest Self-alter egos as they embark on various home improvement and craft projects. NOT TO SCALE TARGET “Bookworm”Stop-Motion, Paper Craft

Not To Scale NY & director Lucinda Schreiber craft beautiful stop-motion spots for Target and Mythology! Tasked with creating a campaign to support a new children’s product line from illustrator Christian Robinson for Target and bring these designs to life in a paper craft collage style, Lucinda imbued these spot with charm and wonder, beautifully and seamlessly animated in camera. Filmed at the Not To Scale New York studio, each spot is focused on a range of Christian Robinson’s inspired Target products. The spots begin with a child in a stop-motion animated world and end with a live-action version of the kid playing in their bedroom. View the spots HERE


JELLY HAYWARD “Paint The Process” / Hand-painted 2D


Jelly has been very busy this Fall, including JELLY-represented director, Em Cooper’s oil paint animation piece that communicates the idea of dedication, hard work and the training process that athletes go through in the run-up to their pivotal sporting achievements. In a film made with Wieden+Kennedy, Portland for their client Hayward Field, which is an iconic Track and field training ground based in Oregon, USA. Hayward has seen countless record-breaking athletes in training, such as Sha’Carrie Richardson, Nick Symmonds, and Otis Davis. Using Em’s signature, emotionally charged style of oil painting and rotoscoped animation, clips from famous Track and field sporting moments combined with rotoscoped animation are used to paint the maniacal, intense process of training that leads up to the glory of winning. The mood and tone shift from a darker, more obscured animated world, which represents the hard work and training, to a clearer, more detailed live-action one, which shows the glory of winning. “it’s what you put in, that leads to the glory you get out”. In co-operation with T Brand Studio, BluBlu created the animated film, social cuts, and print materials for Samsung’s new generation washing machine and its eco-friendly solutions. Global sustainability problems are of the highest importance, and BluBlu’s goal was to showcase the benefits of using their product and how it positively affects users’ lives and the environment.
